Martin's excellent New Zealand adventure

Activities

This is the category with the most pictures in it. While I was in New Zealand, I did a ton of things. Most of them involved me scaring the hell out of myself. But see for yourself!

  • First off: this is premium content. I took the video of my bungy-jump, digitized it, and added some cool music. If you don't look at anything else, look at this! You'll need RealPlayer. The quality isn't the greatest, but for that the file's less than a megabyte in size.
  • A visit to the Agrodome (lots of sheep here)
  • An extra page showing the hell I went through with a bungy-jump.
  • Pictures from when I visited dolphins on the northernmost tip of the North Island.
  • I also took a trip on the 'Excitor'. Here's a picture of the crew, and here's a picture of all of us in the boat!
  • This is me panning for gold in Arrowtown.
  • The Huka Jet is a speedboat on the Huka River. Here's us in action, here's a beautiful scenery shot from during the ride, and here's us afterwards.
  • I also visited Kelly Tarlton's Antarctic world. Here are some real live penguins.
  • The louge is great fun... You go downhill at amazing speeds. Here's a picture of me doing exactly that. And here's a view of the hill I went down.
  • I also went offroading... Here's a shot of me coming down a pretty steep hill.
  • In New Zealand I went parasailing for the first time in my life. Here's a shot of me getting ready to lift off. And this is me just taking off. This next shot is me up pretty high. From that hight, the boat seems really tiny. Finally, this is me at the highest point: 800 feet! The rope doesn't even show up on this image anymore...
  • Quadbiking is a lot of fun. Basically what you do is you get on this 4-wheel-drive thingy and you can get really great views of the scenery. Here's the crew that went (I'm on the far left). This is a shot of the breathtaking scenery we went through. And finally, this is me with the scenery.
  • I've built an extra page for the pictures of me white-water rafting!
  • Here's a seldom shot of me rapping (with the Jamester). It was 'Stan', by Eminem.
  • This is called 'Reverse bungy'. Basically what happens is that the seats are pulled down to the ground, you get in, and then you're let go. You hit 5 g and 200 km/h in 2 secondes. It's scary as hell.
  • I also tried sandboarding when I was in the Bay of Islands. You take this surfboard-like thing, and walk up a huge sanddune with it. Just getting up there almost killed me. But I actually made it, and then down I went. This picture is me at about 70 km/h.
  • The shotover jet is very similar to the Huka Jet. This shot is us in action, and here's the group of people that went with me.
  • The skyswing is another fear-instilling contraption New Zealanders invented. Basically, you're pulled up, and then let go. It's scary as hell.
  • Because of the bet, I also tried snowboarding for the first time in my life. This is me in action, here's another shot, and here's a third.
  • Finally, the New Zealanders invented 'The swoop'. I tried it with Bob and Susan. Here's us in full swing (pun intended), and here's us swinging back. Here's us flying.
