Maori culture in New Zealand
Maori are the indigenous people of New Zealand (actually, they weren't reall indigenous - but they came a lot earlier than the British). I had the opportunity to view a lot of Maori culture.
- I'm especially proud to have been part of a Mouri cultural welcoming. Here's a shot of me participating.
- This is me in front of a traditional Maori house-like structure. It was used to store supplies, and was built a little higher than the ground so animals couldn't get to the food.
- This is a picture of the inside of a traditional Maori gathering house.
- Finally, these are some carved Maori sculptures.
