The District Conference Experience

In Rotaract, there are a bunch of conferences one can attend. The one I was invited to by my Rotaract friends only about a week after I arrived, was the joint district conference in Singapore, 15th to 17th of May 1999.

This was just about the most fun I've ever had (with my clothes on - in fact, that isn't completely accurate, if you'll check out all the pictures)...

Check out these full-size pictures:

  • All attendees. (Ok, so this is obviously a must. We all look a little stuck up on this one, but don't let that fool you... Just check out the other pics)
  • The knot (This was one of the ice-breaking games - everyone in the group was asked to take any hand and hold on. Then try to form a circle without letting go. In fact, all people in the blue team especially did this one over for the picture. Respect.)
  • The blue team (After all the games we finished (which I think we did excellently in), we all got up here and took this picture. Great memories...
  • Another group of people (This was after the knot. Or before. I forget. Besides, it makes no difference...)
  • Supper (Believe it or not, this was my first attempt at eating with chopsticks. I think I've pretty much got it down pat now, but it's still tricky. If you ever think you've mastered it, try eating rice with chopsticks (and if you can do that, try soup)
  • Martin dressed up as a woman (Ok, so here it is. The one I know you've all been waiting for. So this is the story: You know the game 'Treasurehunt', where every table votes for a representative (guess who my table chose), and that representative has so collect items from all over the room and bring them to the stage? Well, same in this game, only that then I had to apply all collected things on myself. There's lipstick, earrings, a cell phone, high-heeled shoes, a scarf (ok, so it's a napkin) and eyeshadow (skin-colored). I know I'm never gonna hear the end of this, so I might as well publish the picture. A few more scared men on this pic.
  • Me on stage (This was before the party began. Just sitting there, smiling)
