Iowa
Where I stayed
Here's a picture of where I lived the first few days of my stay (the Rosses were nice enough to put up with me). And here it is: 210 North Governor St. This is a shot of my place during the winter, and this is sometime during summer. And here's a close-up of the front porch. Finally, here's a picture taken of the inside, during my farewell-party. Here's another - it shows Gary and Nancy Pacha, me and Nancy Ross.
What I did
I visited a great football game (which Iowa lost to Nebraska). But the school spirit was definitely there! As Vice President of Philanthropy of the MBA Association, I organized a Bowl for Kids' sake. Here's the Iowa MBA team.
Where I learned
Those of you who know me well also know that I spent most of my time at the Papajohn Business Building. I made some pictures that I think turned out really well. This is a picture of the building as seen from Market Street. And here's a shot of the south entrance. And this is me in front of that same south entrance in December of 2000.
Graduation
When finished my MBA at the University of Iowa in December of 2000, a lot of my friends and family came to the graduation. This is a photo of my guest parents Nancy and Don Ross and myself. Here's a group photo. From left to right, it shows Don Ross, Felix Gruschke (who flew in all the way from Germany!), myself, Nancy Ross, Martha Frech, John Morris, Lisa Frech, Heinz Frech, Emily Wiese and Aviv Hod. And here's another group photo, with John Morris, Felix Gruschke, myself and Lisa Frech in the back row, and my parents sitting in the front row. Finally, this is me right after the graduation. And because my good buddies Susan and Mark Fullenkamp couldn't make it to the graduation, I included a picture of them and me here.

New York
While hunting for an internship for the Summer of 2000, I made a trip to New York City. What a place! I had a great time!
Statue of Liberty
Of course my trip included the Statue of Liberty. Here's a better view - right from the front! As you can see, the weather was really great, so this is my favorite picture: With the very blue sky in the background. Of course with weather like that, you can see all the way to Manhattan. Here's a great shot of myself with Manhattan in the background.
Other sights
Of course no visit to New York is complete without seeing some Yellow Cabs, or without a visit to the Empire State Building. The view from what used to be the tallest man-made structure in the world is breathtaking: Here's a view over New York. Here's another one - incredible. Oh, and of course there's proof that I was really there: Here's the photo to prove it. The really great part came when the sun went down over water. It made for a great shot. And then in the dark of the night, all building were illuminated. Finally, here's a magnificent shot of Times Square.

Washington D.C.
National cemetary
Right before my visit back to Germany, I 'dropped by' Washington D.C. The nation's capital is a great place. Among other things, I saw Arlington, the national cemetary. At the national cemetary, I also saw the grave of JFK. The engraving on this picture reads: "And so my fellow Americans ask not what your country can do for you ask what you can do for your country. My fellow citizens of the world - ask not what America will do for you - but what together we can do for the freedom of man". And here's another shot of the national cemetary with the Washington monument in the background.
Washington Monument
The Washington Monument was under construction when I was there. Here's a great shot at sunset.
White House
Of course you can't leave Washington DC without seeing the White House. First of all, here's proof that I was there, then check out another nice shot with the American flag, and here's another. Finally, the White House by night.
Other Sights
I saw the original Wright Brothers plane, the first man-made airplane to fly, and also the Capitol building.

Colorado
During my spring break, I visited my sister Lisa in Colorado. Our parents were there at the same time, so we were able to meet up - here's a photo showing us all together. The next time I went, we had a surprise snowstorm, and this is what my car looked like afterwards. Needless to say I had to postpone my trip back to Iowa.

California
Right before I began my summer internship at Procter & Gamble im Minneapolis, I took a trip to California with my friend Vivek Nanda. Here are some of the pictures from our excellent adventure.
Alcatraz
This is a picture of the Island that the Alcatraz prison is on. And this is a view from inside a cell - this is the San Francisco bay. And this is a cell in Alcatraz.
The Golden Gate Bridge
The Golden Gate Bridge is amazing. Here's a picture of me in front of it. This picture here is my favorite: it shows the Bridge on a sunny day. Here's another view of the bridge, with the bay. And here's another picture of me on the bridge, and here's one from on the bridge.
Muir woods
The Muir woods are a forest of very old, very tall trees. Here's a photo to let you know how high those trees actually are. And here's a picture of me in front of one of those trees.
Other famous sights
We visited the crookedest street in the world in San Francisco - I even drove down it. Here's a shot of me in front of it. And this shot shows the beautiful San Francisco skyline. Here's a picture of me infront of Sun Microsystems - this is where it all started (well, one of the places where it all started)! And here's a typical view of a San Francisco street. Notice the slope! I also visited Stanford U. Ok, so it was only an afternoon, but I can still say "I went to Stanford and got an MBA!"
Scenery
California has some breathtaking scenery. Here's a shot of me on a beach, and here's another one. Here's a picture of a typical tree - they look really cool. Here's a nice view of a beach. We also saw a neat lighthouse in the middle of nowhere. This one's one of my favorites: the beach at sunset. Here's another beach photo, and here's another. And this is me in front of some more beautiful scenery.

Minnesota
During the summer of 2000, I interned at Procter & Gamble, and lived in Minneapolis for that time. What a blast! Here's a picture of all the interns that worked at Procter & Gamble that year.
This is a picture of Kristin Cherveny and me at a concert. It was a concert of the group Night Louie, in which Randy, my boss at P&G played. This picture's a little blurred, but it's a nice shot nonetheless. During my stay in Minneapolis, my sister and mom came to visit, so here's a picture of Lisa, my sister, an me. And here's a picture of a dinner with my mom, my sister, Randy (my boss), and his wife Michelle at Champps.
Holger Loop came to visit me from Germany, too. And here's a picture of the huge baseball-stadium, with the Twins playing the White Sox. And here's me in front of the field. Finally, here's a picture of Holger, Wade and me at Wade's farewell-party.

USCC 2000
My stay in Minneapolis coincided with the USCC - the United States, Canada and Carribean Rotaract Conference. This event was a blast. Here's a group photo of some participants.
One of the projects we did during the USCC was to paint the map of the United States of America on concrete for kids to play on. Here's what it looked like before we started. And this is me painting the smallest state: Rhode Island. Here's a shot of Mei and myself standing in Iowa, because both of us represented the Iowa City Rotaract Club, and here's one of us leaving our artist's signature. And here's what it looked like when it was done! During the conference, we also visited a Twin's game - can you spot me? During the USCC, I also introduced the idea of a USA-wide organization of Rotaract Clubs. Here's a picture of me presenting the idea. In other official business, Megan presented the Iowa City club with the first exchange banner - from the Rotaract Club of Kuala Lumpur! Of course fun is a big component of a Rotaract Conference. Here's a picture of us playing Volleyball in one of Minnesota's more than 10,000 lakes. And here's the team - we lost, but I think we can claim moral victory! Finally, a picture of all of us just having fun...
Minneapolis Rotaract car wash
The Minneapolis Rotaract Club organized a car wash to raise money for the Building Bridges project. Here's a photo of us getting down and dirty, here's another, and and here's a shot of all of us celebrating! Holger and I were also fortunate enough to join some Minneapolis Rotaract meetings - here's a picture.
Iowa City Rotaract Club
During my stay in Iowa City, I founded the only Rotaract Club in District 6000. Here's a picture of all the founders and members, together with District Governor Ray Muston, and here's another one with all the founders - very happy! Of course, before all of this was possible, a lot of planning was necessary. Here's a photo of our very first meeting. And here's a picture of me giving a speech at a Rotary meeting about the new Rotaract Club. Once our club was established, we had regular meetings (here's a picture of a speech given at our club), but of course we also had some fun outside activities, like grilling. We were also represented at the District Conference of District 6000 - and here's a picture of us having a good meal afterwards.
When I left the States to go back to Germany, we had a kind of goodbye-meeting - this is a photo showing us Iowa City Rotaractors.
